Fun and and Festive Hair Styling Ideas to Spice Up Your Maryland Haircut

Halloween is quickly approaching and if costumes aren’t your thing, there’s another way to get festive and tune into the spooky season: hair styling!

There are plenty of styles out there, so you won’t have a problem finding one that works with your hair type and length. Hair styling is a simple way to show off your individuality and enhance your everyday ‘do.

At iDENTiTY Salon, we’re getting into the spooky spirit by sharing some of our favorite ways to style your hair for Halloween. And who knows, your hair may just inspire this year’s costume.

Double Buns

Not only are double buns – sometimes called space buns – iconic, but they’re a simple look that you can complete at the last minute. This spunky style is also a great way to turn your everyday hair into something more playful for Halloween. You can even put your own twist on it by doing a half-up style or braided buns.

Begin by parting your hair down the middle, from your forehead to the nape of your neck. Separate it into two ponytails. Make them either high or low depending on the look you’re going for.

Get more volume by teasing each ponytail with a comb. To create a bun, twist one ponytail away from your face and into a rope. For smaller buns, twist the rope tighter.

Wrap the rope around the base of the ponytail, moving away from your face. Secure with a hair tie and hide the ends of your hair by tucking them under the bun. Place another hair tie around the base of the bun or use bobby pins. Repeat on the other ponytail. Spray with hairspray to secure.

Beach Waves

Summer may be over, but beach waves are an easy way to style your hair this Halloween. Whether you’re dressing up as a mermaid or just wanting to give your hair some tousled texture, this hairstyle will deliver you with an effortless look within minutes.

First, apply a mousse to damp hair and blow dry, while tousling your hair with your fingers. Separate your hair into sections and use a curling wand to clamp, hold, and release each section. This will form crimped waves. Run your fingers through the ringlets to create bigger, looser waves. Finally, spray the waves with hairspray to keep them in place.

No curling wand? No problem! Beachy waves is just one service offered by our hair stylists near you. When you arrive, we’ll consider your hair type and desired curl to determine what styling tool to use. Our experienced stylists will also apply a heat protectant to maintain the health of your hair. To make your waves last all night, we’ll finish your look by using a high-quality product on your hair.

Hair Tinsel

Tinsel is the perfect way to give your Maryland haircut a little sparkle. It’s extremely versatile and works with any hair length. The best part is that it’s up to you how much of a statement you’d like to make. Tying a few strands of tinsel onto your hair will give it a subtle shimmer, while tying them all over your scalp will create a fun, trendy look.

Be sure to purchase a package of hair tinsel that is twice as long as your hair. Before applying the tinsel, clean, dry, and style your hair to ensure it lasts as long as possible.

To begin, part your hair however you’d like. Take a strand of tinsel and fold it in half. Create a slip knot by pinching the folded end of the tinsel with one hand to form a loop and slipping the thumb and index finger of your other hand through the loop. Complete the knot by pinching the strand of tinsel with your thumb and index finger and pulling it back.

Tighten the slip knot by pulling a few strands of hair through the loop and pulling the end of the tinsel. To secure it, tie the two strands of tinsel into a knot. Repeat as many times as necessary to achieve your desired look.
